Jimmy Buffett summed it up: I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead. I'm passionate about life itself, new adventures, exploring the inner and outer world, being positive, hopelessly hopeful, creative, witty, curious. I love people (one or a few at a time, humanity as a whole is often questionable).
As far as relationships: I'm interested in starting out as friends, then friends with benefits perhaps, then long-term commitment (not necessarily formal marriage). Monogamy, at that point, is important. Communication is essential. Mutual respect even more so. I prefer a man who actually likes women. No married or otherwise commited men, please.
My perfect match would be: Robert Redford. Okay, okay, RR's probably not on here. So...(1) Drug and STD free; (2) Has or had a job, can be retired; (3) Spark in the eyes; (4) Creative (or at least appreciating creativity); (5) Open-minded; (6) A little kink in the bedroom would be nice; (7) Positive (no depressed people please); (8) Able to dance (major plus); (9) Adventurous; (10) Available/attentive/likes to spend time together (though not every minute); (11) Relatively healthy; (12) Non-fundamentalist in any religion; (13) Some interest in spirituality/new age ideas/cross-cultural wisdoms; (14) Good sense of humor. I could go on, but I'm aware that I might fall in love with someone who doesn't fit my list. Could happen.
What makes a relationship work, in my opinion (of which I have many, but they're mine and no one else has to agree), is respect, communication, time shared, intimacy, trust, honesty, laughter, tears, taking the time to learn each other's dreams, desires, wounds, passions, fears and hopes---and to take those seriously, lend support, allow room for change, and honor each other's processes. (Well, Match did ask for "perfect.")
It would be nice to share interests from the start, but there's always some fun involved in trying something new, just because the person I like enjoys it and wants to share it with me. Sailing, for instance, would be on that list, as would NASCAR.
Getting to know each other should be a continuous endeavor from the first hello to the last goodbye.

I don't have 'one' goal in life---I'm not that evolved. So of my many goals, here are a few. (1) To be loved by someone I love. (2) My novels published by a major publisher and selling well. (3) Hit songs making money. (4) Healthy and maintaining my ideal weight. (5) Successful psychotherapy practice. (6) e-Book empire making lots of money while I sleep. (7) A two-lane lap pool in a new backyard attached to a different house (don't ask...long story).

A man not afraid to be a man and not afraid of a strong woman (I don't mean bossy). A man who cares about his health (disease and drug-free) and mine, but doesn't have to obsess about it. A man with an open mind and a generous heart. A man who is intelligent and funny, who can take life seriously at times and see the absurdity in it at others. Someone not afraid of new experiences, thoughts, ideas. Someone who likes people. Honest, kind, thoughtful, of course. Able to dance is helpful but not required. Handsome enough that children and puppies don't run screaming when they see him. Supportive emotionally; encouraging; positive outlook is really important.
