Do you know how to drive this thing?

I didn't know what to say, so an ex offered to write it for me and this is the result, unedited and unexpurgated. I think she should get a career in advertising, but here it is:

"I know people will be wondering why a woman would write a testimonial on a dating site for an ex but the truth of the matter is that Richard is deserving of such a thing since he is my ex boyfriend. Richard’s caring, considerate, respectful, in touch with his emotions. In fact, he is one of the few guys I’ve met who likes to talk about how they feel. He’s a one woman’s man; he’s your friend, companion, and lover rolled into one, and to top it all up, he has a great sense of humour. You’ll be laughing your socks off as he’s got this ability to turn situations into a long joke!

Richard’s also a driven, tough individual, ambitious at work, who takes his responsibilities seriously (like caring and providing for his two nearly grown daughters whom he adores). He can never do enough for people, he’s a giver, which is an increasingly rare quality to have in this day and age, but not a fool. He deeply dislikes deceipt, and can smell a liar miles away!
In short, Richard is a man who has a lot to offer to the right person, and I think he is ready now to meet his next soul mate.

Some people will be wondering why didn’t I stay with him if he’s such a great guy. The truth is that we met at the wrong time, that’s why it didn’t work out between us but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t remain friends, and that’s exactly what happened."

Meeting at the entrance to the private airfield, our pilot waiting at the steps of the executive jet. He ushers us up the steps and the steward settles us in, offering champagne as the jet taxis to the runway. A short flight, spent with our heads close together, chatting, laughing, smiling and before we know it, we're coming into land at Venice, a water taxi waiting to sweep us to our hotel on the grand canal, liveried staff waiting on our every gesture. Now, that would be ONE ideal first date. However, if we can manage the chatting, laughing and smiling, then actually, does it really matter where we are?

Spending time with my daughters, being with friends, riding my motorcycle, cooking with and for someone, reading, watching or listening to comedy that requires me to think and not just know which words are the swear words. Wandering round the narrow streets of a new foreign city, listening to the noises coming from the houses, smelling the aromas of their true cuisine, enjoying the cool shadows and silence, then bursting out into a square and realising with a laugh that we know where we are after all. Chips with Mayonnaise. Watching 'Antiques Roadshow' and laughing at the look on the faces of the pompous ones who think they have something really valuable and find out it's a copy made in Vietnam. Oh, and sitting with someone I care for, snuggled up, watching something we both enjoy and really not caring what it is.
